SURROUNDINGS
Right behind the hotel is Lithostroto, the commercial area of the city where all the shops and cafes are.
At the beginning of Lithostroto you will see the church of St. Spyridon with its famous gilded, carved, wooden iconostasis.
After a few meters you will see the Catholic church of St. Nicholas which houses the famous icon of Panagia Preveziana.
At the end of Lithostroto you will find the Bell Square and the Clock Tower.
At the entrance of the square you can visit the Focas-Cosmetatos Foundation, that houses a rich collection of coins and photographs from the 1953 earthquake.
A little above is the Korgialenios Library with over 62,000 volumes, some of which date back to 1535.
On the ground floor of the Library you can visit the Korgialenios Historical and Folklore Museum, with collections that cover the entire modern history of Kefalonia: from the Venetian conquest (around 1500 AD) till the destruction by earthquakes in 1953.
